The casual gamer will be very pleased with the upcoming week in eSports. A variety of games will be covered in some of the greatest events of the year. Of course, the icing on the cake will be the upcoming League of Legends major tournament – WORLDS. However, we should not forget about the other eSports events. Some of the best Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive teams will be very busy as well. Now, let’s take a look at our Weekly eSports Events Preview!
Surely, this is the most anticipated League of Legends event of the year. WORLDS will gather the best teams from the North American, European, Korean and Chinese regions. Of course, we can expect some incredibly intense battles fought by the elite League of lLegends teams of the world. The competition will kick off on September 29 with sixteen teams playing in the Double Round Robin group stage. The top two teams from each group advance to the playoffs. The prize pool is also spectacular; the teams will be competing to claim an incredible €1.5 million. You can find further information about the upcoming event and the four groups in our preview article.
The ESL Polish Championship is a small event featuring the best Counter-Strike teams from Poland. They will compete for a modest prize pool – $7,833. The event will be 4 teams playing in a Best of 3 format. The tournament will start on October 1st.
The finals of the World Electronic Sport Games Series in China will start in the upcoming week. The Best Chinese teams will participate in the event and TyLoo and VG.CyberZen are the favorites to win it. If you are interested in that event, we highly recommend you read our article.
Adrenaline Cyber League Finals are also scheduled for the upcoming week. The finalists from Gambit and Spirit will battle for the title of the league. Even though there will be mostly only Russian teams participating, the prize shouldn’t be underestimated since it is $100,000.
The ESL ONE in New York is another long awaited Counter-Strike: Global Offensive event. Since the Brazilians from SK-Gaming have already managed to take home two consecutive wins from major CS events, it will be very interesting to see how the other teams will try to stop their dominance. However, Marcelo “coldzera” David and his teammates were not in the best form lately. This was obvious in their matches for EPL and ESC. Nevertheless, SK-Gaming will definitely be one of the favorites for the title, along with the winners from DreamHack 2016 Bucharest – Virtus.Pro and the French guys from G2.Esports!
