The Dota 2 gaming organization Vici Gaming has imposed a fine on rOtK on the charges of violently abusing PSG.LGD. The fine is around 100 yen which makes it over 14 thousand US Dollars.
The management is holding nothing back on this case of rOtK. They are comprehensively checking the background story of the player.
The club studied the rOtK bank account for the period from December 7 to 9. But they did not find any “unusual” account activity on it that would indicate these financial figures. Account screenshots were published along with the organization’s statement in social networks. Vici Gaming’s management agreed that they would continue to study the issue. They will definitely take action if they receive new information.
During the MegaFon Winter Clash broadcast, the Vici Gaming coach forgot to turn off the stream. He accidentally let it slip that he put ¥ 50 thousand on PSG.LGD to win their match against Natus Vincere. The Ukrainian team won the series, and rOtK lost all the amount wagered. After the match, he called the LGD players “bastards”, whose defeat cost him dearly.
On December 4, Reddit users recalled that rOtK was discussing: “Filipino monkeys from the Olympic swimming team” on Weibo and laughing at them on the stream during The International 2016. The next day, he apologized for the post of 2016 but cautioned that this does not mean that others can insult China. This comment caused a riot on Reddit.
Fans of eSports were reminded of Valve’s double standards because of the ban of Carlo Kuku Palad who insulted the Chinese community and now he can’t participate. They believe the company should have punished rOtK for his racist statements.
The Reddit users treated the Ban of Carlo “Kuku” Palad differently from The Chongqing Major. However, many agreed that Valve adheres to double standards. Dedicated eSports fans recalled cases when other players insulted or made fun of people from different countries. At the end of it, all did not receive any negative feedback.
Ironically, the first “contender for the ban” was Chinese Bai rOtK Fan. He not only discussed the “Filipino monkeys from the Olympic swimming team” on Weibo but also laughed at them on the stream during The International 2016
Many doubt that Valve will defend Filipinos (Kuku also applies to them) against the racist rOtK attacks. After all, there are much more Chinese players at DotA, and the company’s earnings directly depend on their loyalty.
On a personal perspective, looking at the recent and the 2016 case of rOtK, we believe that he should definitely be fined or at least punished. If any streamer or eSports personality would have done so, they would have surely been banned or fined by the developer Valve.
Valve’s silence on the matter is just a sign of how much they show favoritism towards the region. Some amendments should definitely take place in the near future.
