Home I Latest News I Super Bowl LIII Preview
The biggest NFL game of the year is on the horizon and we are expecting one heck of a game! Super Bowl LIII features the New England Patriots taking on the L.A. Rams this Sunday at 6:30pm in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Super Bowl is the biggest betting day for American sports fans and international punters alike. And now with sportsbetting being legal in many US states, the stakes have never been higher. In fact, Vegas has already seen multiple bets of over $1million USD. MGM Resorts reported a $2 million money-line bet late Thursday on the Rams while William Hill has taken a $1.5 million money-line bet, also on the Rams. The Patriots are also being backed by a seven-figure bet coming out of MGM. All told, upwards of $6 Billion is expected to be wagered on Super Sunday.
One main headline of this matchup is the difference in age between the forces that drive each team. New England QB Tom Brady is 41 and Coach Bill Belichick is pushing 67 and they’ve been dominating the league for almost 20 seasons. Everybody knows they are experienced in Super Bowl appearances, having been there 9 times in the last 18 years. Brady and Belichick have teamed together to snatch 5 of those shiny Super Bowl rings and they are hungry for an unprecedented 6th.
On the other end of the field, we have the youngin’s. Rams QB Jarod Goff is just 24 while Coach Sean McVay is the youngest head coach in the NFL at 33. It was 2002 the last time the Rams were in the Super Bowl, they were playing out of St. Louis and Goff was in second grade. The Rams took on none other than the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXVI and were the first victims of the Brady/Belichick double threat.
Future Hall of Famer, New England TE Rob Gronkowski, is healthier now than he was at almost any other point this season. When asked if this is his swan song in the NFL, Gronk laughed and said, “Yes, no, maybe so!”
Whether he will be coming back for next season or not, sources say Gronk is feeling 100 percent after battling injuries for most of this year. He’s been down with ankle injuries and back problems, which included a bulging disc that it took him until Week 15 to leave the injured list, only to return in Week 16.
Thankfully for the Patriots, Gronkowski hasn’t been on the injury report during the playoffs, and it’s no surprise that he played one of his best games in the exciting AFC Championship game vs the red hot Chiefs.
The New England Patriots are sitting at a slight advantage, according to bookmakers, and the over/under is chilling at 56 after bets came pouring for the under this morning.
These were the No. 2 and No. 4 scoring offenses this season, so we should expect to see some big numbers put up today. Visit William Hill to bet on the over as well as almost 400 other ways to wager!
Colombian Egan Bernal is the first Latin American Tour de France winner. It's is his first major win, but it certainly won't be his last.
