We are back with some valuable picks for your Premier League Fantasy Football Week 24 line up.
After an action-packed midweek slate, it is back to basics this weekend with a standard DFS Premier League gameweek.
Looking specifically at the 15:00 (GMT) slate, there are six matches to work with so you have ample opportunity to draft those high point-scoring, low ownership stars and sleepers.
Let’s take a look at the DFS Premier League Team of the Week:
Watford are not normally the kind of team we’d plunder for our DFS Premier League draft, but there are two things in their favour this week. Firstly, they are coming off the back of an outstanding 2-1 win at Arsenal, so confidence will clearly be high. Secondly, they are welcoming Burnley FC to Vicarage Road. As brilliant as the Clarets are at home, on the road their formline of W0 D1 L9 suggests they are there for the taking. Plus, they have only scored four times in those ten outings, so we’re confident that Gomes can pick up some clean sheet bonus points.
The Everton defender should enjoy himself this week. Since switching to a 5-3-2 formation, Baines has been given greater license to get forward and join in with the attacking phase of play. The Toffees have looked much better for it. On Saturday they host a Bournemouth side that has conceded 41 goals this term; only three teams have shipped more. The Cherries are as poor away from home (W2 D2 L7) as Everton is strong on home soil (W6 D4 L1). We’re anticipating a win for Baines and crew this week.
The reason for picking Alderweireld is simple: we’re looking to bank some solid clean sheet points. The Belgian occasionally pops up with a goal, but it is Tottenham’s defensive work that we most admire. They have gone without conceding in 43% of matches this season, with only Chelsea boasting a higher ratio. The Spurs’ opponents this week, Middlesbrough, is the Premier League’s lowest scoring team. They have failed to notch in 5 of 11 games on their travels.
Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce switched to a 3-5-2 formation for the midweek trip to Bournemouth, and the decision paid dividends in a 2-0 win. In that system, Zaha played further forward in attack, and so his potential for points-scoring was enhanced. This week’s opponents are Sunderland, and they are poor. Having lost nine of their eleven away games, they don’t travel with any confidence. Plus, their failure to sign any new players in the transfer window has all but condemned them to relegation.
What a season it has been for the England midfielder. Lallana is one of the most improved players in the Premier League, and with Sadio Mane back from international duty he can return to his best position in the middle of the park, dictating play. He has already provided seven goals and as many assists this term. His Liverpool side play Hull this week, who have shown character to bounce back from numerous setbacks. That said, their record against teams in the top six of the division reads W0 D1 L7, so the Reds will be expected to win comfortably on Saturday.
The burly Belgian is always good value for a goal or two, and as we’ve mentioned we fancy Everton to triumph handsomely against Bournemouth this week. He has bagged 12 Premier League goals in 21 starts, plus four assists, and is as reliable a point scorer as you will find in DFS this week.
Adam Lallana ($7,200)

Christian Benteke ($7,600)
We’re expecting Crystal Palace to feed off the momentum of their midweek win by turning over Sunderland on Saturday. Chief recipient will surely be Benteke, a proven goal-grabber who notched in Tuesday’s win. The Belgian has scored nine goals in what has been a below-par Palace side, so if they improve now we expect his goal return to increase exponentially. Sunderland, having conceded 22 in 11 away matches, looks ripe for the picking.
Southampton has lost five of their last six league matches and conceded 12 goals in those games, and when you factor in the 0-5 defeat to Arsenal in the FA Cup last week, a picture emerges. The Saints simply cannot defend. This is not helped by the sale of Jose Fonte or the injury to Virgil van Dijk. They host West Ham this week, who barring Wednesday’s defeat against Manchester City, have been in good form of late. Their key striker is Andy Carroll, so he is worth a draft this week at a bargain price.
