The British Open is another high-profile event in the world of golf tournaments. It is not just one of the oldest golf tournaments in the world but it is also one of the most popular ones. The event is held in Southport, England, and was first played in 1860.
The field for The Open is 156 players, mostly consisting of leading players who are given exemptions. The weather conditions and especially the coastal winds are a heavy challenge for the golfers and make The Open one of the most exciting golf tournaments every year.
