Home I eSports I eSports I Player of the Month – Rekkles
March is over and it is time for our Player of the Month article. There was plenty of intense tournaments and competitions and DotA 2 fans had the pleasure of watching Dream League Season 9. League of Legends followers enjoyed the finals of both the NA and EU Spring Splits.
Of course, Counter-Strike:Global Offensive was the game with the most events held in March. In addition to the ongoing ECS and ESL Pro Leagues, CS:GO enthusiasts had the Copenhagen Games, the biggest event in the Nordic Region.
This time, we dedicated our Player of the Month article not to the famous shooter, but to one of the most popular MOBAs in eSports – League of Legends. He is one of the most recognizable players in the world. With insane skill on the bottom lane, Martin “Rekkles” Larsson totally deserves his MVP award from the EU LCS Spring Finals!
Riot announced that Martin will take the MVP award just before the beginning of the 2018 EU LCS Spring Split Final between G2 eSports and Fnatic.
Rekkles is the second player to be awarded with the MVP twice in a row after the former G2 Esports jungler Kim “Trick” Gang-yun.
But let’s talk about the statistics. Rekkles has been an important part of team success in the Spring Split. Fnatic ended the season with an incredible 14-4 record. Martin has no real competition for the award. He ranked first in KDA, kill participation, and more, with no other ADC coming close to taking the lead in various rankings.
Rekkles ended the regular season with 13.5 KDA Ratio and a total of 88 kills. He participated in 81.5% of the team kills. Moreover, Martin’s record for CS (per minute) is 12.1, again the best for the season. Last but not least, 8.670 is the total of minions killed at the rift, which is impressive.
Rekkles‘ stats at the playoffs are even more spectacular. With 31.5 KDA, the Fnatic player was far ahead of 2nd place – G2 eSports ADC Petter “Hjarnan” Freyschuss and Splyce’s member Kasper “Kobbe” Kobberup. Kobbe had more total kills, but he also died 9 times.
On the other side, Rekkles only had 2 deaths in the playoffs, with 30 assists in addition. His kill participation was not as great as in the regular season, but we can agree that he did his job pretty well. Martin needed only 7 games to establish himself as the best in the playoffs.
The graphs above are fully related to the AD Carries. Let’s compare Rekkles’ stats to all lanes:
You can see top 10 for the regular season of 2018 Spring Split. Our Player of the Month is again on the top of the ladder. KDA of 13.5 is enough to secure him first place. Second in the ranking is his Fnatic teammate Gabriël “Bwipo” Rau. Next on the list is Splyce’s jungler Andrei “Xerxe” Dragomir with a 7.1 raiting. Of course, we need to clarify that Bwipo played in only two games. Only one of the top 10 players is close to Rekkles in terms of Kill Participation – Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski from G2 eSports with 80.08.
To conclude, we should say that Martin has dominated the whole season, and logically claimed the MVP Award.
Now, we will focus a bit on his champions pool that makes him so dangerous in the regular season and the playoffs.
Ezrael and Tristana were both played 7 times. The Win/Loss ratio is always the same 6-1. The KDA Ratio with Tristana is truly amazing – 65.0! Third most played champ in the Spring Split was Sivir. Rekkles picked it 4 times, ended with 2-2 record and a KDA Ratio of 6.5. European teams will have to find way to counter Ezrael and Tristana, before the start of the Summer split, or Fnatic will again smash everyone.
