Home I Latest News I NFL Week 9 DFS Preview
The more things change, the more things stay the same. We are half way through the NFL season and yet again, the New England Patriots are the team to beat. Tom Brady doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon, which is bad for the league but good for fantasy owners. This week however, will be played without the Patriots as they are on a BYE along with 5 other teams. This NFL week 9 offers plenty of exciting matchups, so let’s get into it!
This one is shaping up to be the game of the week. The highest over/under of the week promises to be a track meet. With two of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, I will be all over this for week 9 in DFS. Both teams are coming off losses last week where both defenses allowed 30+ points. Expect points early and often in this one.
Aaron Rodgers QB ($7,800)
No surprise here, but I love Aaron Rodgers this week. After a rocky start, Rodgers is coming off back-to-back games where he put up 27.7 and 33.8 points. While he is the most expensive QB this week, I don’t mind paying up for what should be a guaranteed 30 points.
Jordy Nelson WR ($7,800)
Jordy Nelson rebounded last week with a 19.4 point performance. With Cobb and Montgomery both questionable, you would think Jordy should see double digit targets. Lets ride with the Rodgers/Nelson combo one more time.
Andrew Luck QB ($6,700)
Luck may not be getting any help from his offensive line but that hasn’t stopped him from trying. Luck has thrown the ball at least 32 times in every game this season. Due to his defense struggles, Luck is usually playing from behind which is great for Daily Fantasy players. Get Luck into your lineups this week.
Donte Moncrief WR ($5,800)
With T.Y Hilton looking like he may miss the game this Sunday, Moncrief is a must play this week. In his first week back last week, Moncrief visited the end zone. I expect at least one touchdown from him this week and at least 100 yards. This week it seems you can’t go wrong with the Luck/Moncrief or Rodgers/Nelson combination. This game should be a good one.
The VIP-bet Betting Pick: Colts +7.5
Stop me if you have heard this before: I love the Saints matchup in Daily Fantasy Football. I know what you’re thinking, even the 49ers? Yes, even the 49ers. Although they played well at home last weekend vs the Seahawks, playing on the road is a whole new ball game. The 49ers can’t stop the run and the Saints can’t stop much of anything. Expect the points to rack up in this matchup.
Colin Kaepernick QB ($5,600)
It’s now or never for Kaepernick in the NFL and in DFS. If he can’t put up 20+ points this week, it’s officially over for him. At the price of only $5,600 this has an opportunity to really set you up with the studs up top. I am riding Kaepernick this week and loading up at the other skill positions.
Torrey Smith WR ($4,100)
Much like Kaepernick, it is put up or shut up for Torrey Smith. If he can’t torch the Saints secondary, I am afraid he is useless no matter how cheap he is. The Smith/Kaepernick combo can set you up to plug in studs all over the place.
Carlos Hyde RB ($6,100)
The Saints are ranked 31/32 against opposing running backs in 2016. After missing last week, it looks like Hyde is ready to go. As long as the 49ers keep the game close, expect Hyde to see 20+ carries.
Drew Brees QB ($7,200)
Drew Brees is set up for a monster week this week. Playing a 49ers defense who cannot stop a nose bleed, this should lead to plenty of fantasy points. I usually don’t like to play Brees on the road but the 49ers are always a good exception.
Mark Ingram RB ($4,800)
After being benched last week for fumbling for the second straight game, Ingram was a disappointment for fantasy players everywhere. I expect a bounce back week for Ingram, who is facing a 49ers defense ranked 30/32 against the running back position.
Brandin Cooks WR ($7,500)
Brandin Cooks may be small, but he plays big. Cooks has been having a great season and with a great matchup, I’m loving the Brees/Cooks combo. Look for Cooks to visit the end zone and break 100 yards on Sunday.
The VIP-bet Betting Pick: Saints -3.5
Here we go, another week of great match ups. I cannot stress enough how important it is to keep up with the injury report as the week progresses. As the kick off approaches on Sunday, make sure you know who is active and who is inactive. Good luck to everyone this NFL week 9 and I will see you back here for week 10!
