The National Football League is back with tons of pre-season action so dust off those sportsbetting accounts! Professional football is the most popular sport in America. So it’s no surprise that bookmakers offer tons of markets for each game.
With 3 weeks left until the regulas season kicks off, now is the time to place those long term bets like Over/Under on Team Wins, regular season MVP, and of course, who will be the next NFL Super Bowl Champions. Betfair, for example, is running hundreds of future bets for this season.
Placing a bet on NFL Futures is a great way to keep you engaged the whole season. Make a bet now and cheer on your selection all season long!
Most Sacks: Think of the Jaguars of last season. Their defense was so intense, people started calling them the “Sacksonville Jaguars”. DE Calais Campbell finished the 2017 season second in sacks for the NFL but he’s not even in the top four favorites for Most Sacks 2018. Betfair has him at 15.0 to be the leader this season. J.J. Watt, who didn’t even play last season and has only 8 games in 2 years, is the favorite to dominate this category at 6.5 (Betfair).
The winner of the Most Sacks award last year was DE Chandler Jones. His 17 sacks set a new Arizona Cardinals franchise record and tagged him as one of the best defensive linemen in the league. Can he repeat this incredible feat this year?
NFL Comeback Player of the Year: We saw a lot of high profile injuries last season. Aaron Rodgers, J.J. Watt, and Carson Wentz are just a few. Rodgers broke his collarbone in week 6 last year vs the Vikings and finished the season from the bench. Watt fractured his left shinbone just a week before Rodgers went down. Wentz blew out his knee just weeks before the playoffs, requiring surgery to repair his ACL and LCL.
Betfair has Rodgers as the favorite at 4.33, Wentz at 8.0, and Watt coming in at 11.0 to be the Comeback Player of the Year for 2018. Watt has been hurt in one way or another for nearly 3 years, but could this year be injury free?
Worst NFL Record: Last year was a sad, sad year for the Cleveland Browns. Sixteen times they took the field with hope in their hearts, and sixteen times they were harshly denied the W. With a record of 0-16 in 2017 and 1-15 in 2016, perhaps they’ve gotten used to being at the bottom of the barrel. The only good news about being last in the league is that you get the first pick of the NFL Draft. The Browns selected Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield with the first overall pick and Ohio State cornerback Denzel Ward with the fourth pick.
Can these additions keep the Browns from coming in dead last again? Or will the schedule keep them pinned to the losing wheel? They are stuck with the 5th most difficult schedule for 2018-2019. They are the favorites to “win” this category again, sadly.
