Home I Latest News I NFL Conference Playoffs
We are one step closer to the NFL Super Bowl and this weekend, two games will determine who gets to fight for the Vince Lombardi trophy on February 3rd. Let’s take a look at some key points of the NFL Conference Championships.
We kick things off on Sunday, January 20 at 3:05pm when the Los Angeles Rams take on the New Orleans Saints in New Orleans. The Saints came away with the W in their regular season matchup, but can they hang on for a Super Bowl berth?
Is anything better than home field advantage in an NFL Conference Championship game? Home teams for this round of playoffs have dominated the field for the last five years with a record of 10-0 SU and 8-2 ATS. Saints fans are gearing up to make a lot of noise at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome to drown out any audibles thrown out by Rams QB, Jared Goff. The Superdome is the 4th loudest stadium in the league, according to bleacherreport.com, plus the Saints have only lost three times on home soil in 32 games.
Veteran QB Drew Brees is no stranger to high pressure, high decibel games. He’s been in the driver’s seat for 18 years and counting in the NFL, but even at 40 he’s still crushing it. He tracked a stellar passer rating of 129.1 in this season’s eight home games.
So the Rams have a very challenging game ahead of them. The Saints are 3 point favorites with the Over/Under at 56. In 5 of their last 6 games, the Rams were under this while the Saints have gone under in 6 of 7 matchups.

For the other side of the league we will see a tough matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the New England Patriots. These two teams put on a heck of a show during the regular season and we expect another exciting game. Kickoff is set for 6:40pm from the Chief’s home field, Arrowhead Stadium.
The Patriots make the post season look like their vacation home: they go there every year. This season New England reached their 8th consecutive AFC Championship game, an unprecedented NFL record. But the Chiefs have had an excellent season and don’t plan on slowing down any time soon.
When these teams met back in week 6, they combined for a whopping 83 points! For this contest, the Over/Under is at 56 points. The Chiefs allowed just 17.4 points in home games this season, tied for third-best in the NFL, and the Patriots had a terrible away record this season. On the road, they lost to 5 teams that didn’t even make the playoffs.

While the Patriots have the record for Super Bowl appearances (10), the Chiefs haven’t made it there since 1969. Their last AFC Championship game was a 1993 loss to the Buffalo Bills so they are looking for 50 years worth of redemption by capitaliziing on their home field advantage with an offense that led the league in scoring.
