[maxcollection id=”2″]
We are very close to the beginning of the NA LCS, and logically it is time to make a quick preview of all participants. Unlike the European LCS, the North American format is still the same like the years before. That is an advantage for all teams in the region since they do not have to adapt to the changes. NA LCS Teams showed a lot of potential in 2016 and we expect them to continue to improve in 2017.
TSM is one of the strongest competitors in the North American region. With only one constructive change in the team roster, TSM looks better than ever and ready to conquer the top spot in the Spring Split again. Doublelift was replaced by former Immortals player Jason “WildTurtle” Tran. Jason will form a duo on bot with Biofrost in terms of bringing more power to the team.
C9 ended the season 5th best in the World, proving that North American teams have more than a bright future. Similarly to TSM, Cloud9 made only one change in the team’s line-up, replacing the jungler Mateos with ex-Cloud 9 Challenger, jungler Contractz. We predict an awesome year for the organization, but only time can show what will happen.
FlyQuest is another interesting team from the region. As the new Cloud9 Challengers brand, FlyQuest is co-owned by the co-owner of the Milwaukee Bucks and Fortress Investment Group, Wesley Edens. That’s another eSports impact in traditional sports organizations. The roster of FlyQuest consists of only one change compared to last year. The former Liquid player Moon is now in the role of a jungler for the organization.
CLG is the only team that kept all players from last season with no changes in the roster. This has been dictated by the solid game showed in 2016. The organization ended the Splits with 130 championship points, which secured a spot to the Worlds finals. The performance at the finals was not so bad since the team finished at 9th in the World and took home $150,750. As a winner from the Spring Split, CLG will try to defend their title and finish at the top again.
Akaadian, Looper, and Gate will be part of EchoFox for the new season. In 2016, they failed to win any championship points, but we believe they have the strength to do it this time. Although they are considered as underdogs, surprises are completely possible.
Last year, the success of Dignitas was mainly related to their Counter-Strike: Global Offensive division. Now it is time for a change! Dignitas acquired the whole roster of Apex Gaming, modified it with some new players such as ssumday, Chaser, and LOD, and they are completely ready to make an incredible season in the NA LCS Spring Split.
Both 3rd places in Spring and Summer Splits last season were not enough for the organization. They made four changes to their active roster. Only the Mid-Laner Pobelter remained, while rest of the roles will be filled with new players. Flame and Dardoch will take Top and Jungler, while bottom lane will be for Cody Sun and Olleh as AD Carry and Support.
Phoenix1 is another team with fewer capabilities, considered an underdog among the others. However, as we already mentioned, eSports are highly unpredictable and Phoenix1 can really upset some of the favorites if they are underestimated.
Team Liquid released some of their top talents at the end of 2016, and because of that their performance in the Spring Split is quite questionable. The former Worlds winner Piglet will definitely bring the required class to the team on their way to the top of the group. The new roster will be a real challenge, but team Liquid will be enjoyable to watch, that is certain.
Team EnVyUs finished at 6th place in the Summer Split. The organization is highly motivated to improve the performance and surely will attack the top 3 for the 2017 Spring Split. The configuration between NA LCS Teams is fierce but with the help of the new players, LirA and Apollo, NV has their chances in the group.
League of Legends and eSports in general, are really hard to predict. Because of that, we are sure that one incredible season of LCS is ahead of us. We hope you enjoyed our NA LCS Teams preview.
