Home I eSports I Gen.G vs Griffin Betting Prediction KeSPA Cup
The KeSPA Cup is one of the second-class leagues at LCK. It is known as a place where all the developed and developing regional teams fight for supremacy in order to to train their squad to their full potential to enter the new season. Also, this is the tournament that marks the end of a year of competition where fans and players can immerse themselves in the affair of the last tournament of 2018.
The competitive 2019 season of League of Legends in Korea begins to take shape in the KeSPA Cup. Gen.G is proving to be more than ready for the LCK. They beat Kt Rolster and were the first team to qualify for the final to be played this 31st December.
The renewed Gen.G led by CuVee and Ruler was superior to kt in almost every duel of the best five duels. The team seems to have learned from its horrible performance at Worlds 2018. Since Season 3, they were the first team to be eliminated in the group stage of the competition. They displayed a horrible performance which saw them getting only one win from the six games played. This just shows changes were needed for the new season.
However, the first thing they did was to renew the contracts of their star players: Life, Fly, Ruler, and Curvee.
These players have shown an impressive performance for the side. Even though it was shocking to see them performing so poorly at Worlds. The four performed quite well for the team in the LCK. But the side did need to make changes and they did so in style.
In the transfer market, the team acquired the services of Peanut, one of the most experienced players in the game. After parting ways from Kingzone DragonX, there were a lot of rumors concerning the future of the player. Some sources even claimed that Peanut might go to SKT T1. However, Gen.G was quick to get the player and offered him the highest salary compared to any Jungler of LCK. This proves how much Gen.G wants to invest for the upcoming 2019 season. This also put pressure on the Veteran, Peanut to exhibit gameplay that compliments his high earnings.
This investment seems to have paid for them in the Kespa Cup. The side started its campaign by beating Sandbox Gaming. Then Peanut met his former side Kingzone DragonX and beat them quite comfortably. Later, on 29th Gen.G prevailed against KT Rolster to get the first spot of the final. The stats of the team are quite appealing since they reached the finals while dropping only one map.
The competitive start of the new season of League of Legends in Korea proves that Griffin is in excellent shape. The side demonstrated its dominance in the second semifinal of the KeSPA Cup by beating DAMWON Gaming for a clean 3-0.
Maintaining the strength that helped them to revolutionize the Korean scene in the last year, the team almost qualified for the Worlds but they had tough luck against their upcoming opponent’s, Gen.G. Gen.G was the side that beat Griffin in the Regional finals to get to Worlds. Now, this is a chance for the team to seek redemption.
Griffin was promoted to the LCK last year and they overwhelmed everyone with their performance. Owing to the phenomenal last season, Griffin decided not to make many changes to its lineup. All the side did is acquired the services of 17 years old Jeong “Kabbie” Sang-hyeon. He will be the substitute Support for the team and Griffin is his first competitive team.
The team has made a good run in the competition They beat Afreeca Freecs in the quarterfinals. In addition, they made a headline when they beat DAMWON Gaming in the semis since DAMWON beat SKT T1 earlier in the competition. Therefore, it looks like they are set to take redemption of the Regional Finals defeat. However, we favor Gen.G to prevail against Griffin as they did so last time.
The long-awaited LoL KeSPA Cup final will be held on Monday, 31st December at the Convention Hall (Gwangjin, Seoul) on the second floor of Seokjong University.
The 2018 LoL KeSPA Cup is the only LoL short-term tournament to be played with pros and amateurs. It is a tournament that will allow teams to prepare for the regular season next year. The total prize money is 102 million won. The winning team receives 40 million won and 2 million won will be awarded to the for Hyper X MVP player.
