Home I Daily Fantasy Sports I Fantasy Football DFS Week 14
Believe it or not the NFL season is now 3/4 over. I will try not to cry while typing the rest of this preview but it will be hard. The 2016 season is flying by but some good news is that DFS Week 14 promises to be a good one. With plenty of big match ups on the schedule I will break down the ones I will be most locked into. Let’s all take a deep breath and enjoy the final 4 weeks of the season and win some money!
This NFC South matchup has all the makings for a great game for both football fans and Daily Fantasy football fans. The highest Over/Under of the week doesn’t hurt either. On one hand you have hall of fame quarterback, Drew Brees, who’s been as good as advertised in 2016, and on the other hand you have one of the rising stars in the league with Jameis Winston. Both defenses are questionable to say the least. I expect points to be scored at will on Sunday so I will be all over this game.
Drew Brees QB ($7,400)
Coming off a rare bad game, you know Brees will be looking to make up for last week. The Buccaneers are ranked 22/32 against opposing quarterbacks and I expect that to go up after facing Brees. The Saints tend to play from behind as well, forcing him to throw the ball more than he would even like to.
Brandin Cooks WR ($6,400)
Cooks didn’t do quite as well as I thought he would do after coming off a 0 point performance but with that said, he still had 14.7 fantasy points. With 9 targets and 7 catches he was just missing a TD to complete his day. I expect Cooks to be active in week 14. I am loving the Cooks/Brees combo this week.
Jameis Winston QB ($6,700)
Although Jameis has been playing some great football this season, it hasn’t necessarily translated to Daily Fantasy points. Failing to break 20 points in the past two weeks, it’s been a frustrating couple weeks for everyone. I believe this is the week Jameis breaks out on the fantasy scoreboard facing a Saints defense, who tends to give up big plays left and right. I expect Jameis to be a top 5 QB in week 14.
Mike Evans WR ($8,900)
“Lets just agree to not talk about last week.” is probably what Mike Evans would tell Daily Fantasy players if he had the chance. Failing to top double digit points for the first time all season, Evans had a rough week. I expect him to come back firing this week and be the #1 receiver he’s been for much of 2016. Sign me up for the Jameis/Evans combo.
The Carolina Panthers left all Daily Fantasy football players shaking their heads last week. It all started when superstar quarterback Cam Newton was benched for the first series for not wearing a tie. It continued when they only managed to score 7 points. While it was a tough matchup, I think we all expected more. Cam Newton will look to get back on track this week when he faces the Chargers who have given up 27+ points in 5 of their last 6 games. This one should have plenty of points to go around.
Players I like in this game:
Cam Newton QB ($7,200)
This definitely isn’t your 2015 MVP Cam Newton but I am banking on him to live up to his “superman” nickname this week at home vs the Chargers. I think he was embarrassed on national television last week when he was benched. Its time for Cam to show up for Daily Fantasy players who’ve been riding him all season. I have Cam in my top 5 for quarterbacks in week 14.
Kelvin Benjamin WR ($6,200)
Like most of the Carolina Panthers, Benjamin has been a major disappointment in 2016. He did however have 9 targets last week and I am expecting Cam to continue to force feed the ball to their best player. Look for Benjamin to bounce back in week 14.
Melvin Gordon RB ($7,400)
Gordon has been one of the nicest surprises in 2016. After a lackluster rookie season, Gordon has really seized the moment with a monster season. Gordon has been seeing a minimum of 17 carries a week since week 6, and has 12 touchdowns on the season. Look for the Chargers to feed the beast on Sunday. I will be playing Gordon and so should you.
Tyrell Williams WR ($6,100)
Another bright spot for the Chargers has been second year receiver, Tyrell Williams. He will be facing a Panthers defense which is ranked 30/32. Look for Tyrell to get loose and break a big one on Sunday.
Andy Dalton ($6,100) @ Browns
Carson Palmer ($5,700) @ Dolphins
David Johnson ($9,800) @ Dolphins
Matt Forte ($6,800) @ 49ers
Doug Baldwin ($6,800) @ Packers
Golden Tate ($6,600) vs Bears
Tyler Eifert ($6,000) @ Browns
Zach Ertz ($4,900) vs Redskins
Vikings ($3,900) @ Jaguars
Lions ($3,600) vs Bears
We are officially on the home stretch of the 2016 Daily Fantasy football season. Like I always end these previews with, make sure you follow the injury reports. Knowing who is healthy is just as important as knowing who has the best matchup! I wish you all the best of luck in Week 14. I will see you all back here for week 15, and as always thank you for reading!
