Home I Sports Betting I Europa League Final Betting Preview
Stockholm is hosting the Europa League Final between Ajax Amsterdam and Manchester United. This will be the first time that a Dutch club has reached a Europa League Final since Feyenoord in 2002. On the other hand, Manchester United is trying to become the 2nd English club to lift the Europa League trophy after Chelsea in 2013.
Since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement back in 2013, Manchester United hasn’t won a single Premier League title. Even with this season’s tremendous investments, the Red Devils were unable to fight for the title. In addition to Jose Mourinho and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, United spent €120m for Paul Pogba.
On the other hand, Ajax made a great campaign on this competition. After ending the group stage in 1st place, the Dutch proved too strong for Legia Warszawa, FC Kobenhavn, Schalke 04, and Lyon.
Manchester United’s injury crisis is well-known. Adding to this, Eric Bailly is unavailable for this game due to suspension, while Pogba is not going through a good moment after his father’s death.
This is a crucial match for the Red Devils since it’s their only possibility to secure a place in the UEFA Champions League next season.
Mourinho is famous for his phenomenal record on European finals. Besides winning two Champions League titles, the Portuguese coach also won the UEFA Cup back in 2003.
Considering now the odds for this final, the Red Devils are the clear favorite. However, it’s impossible to find any value on their current price. Due to their absences, their defense is much more vulnerable.
Besides counting on very dangerous players on the attack, Ajax’s young squad should create many problems for the English team. The highlight goes to the 19-year-old Kasper Dolberg, with 6 goals scored already on this competition.
That said, the best approach is to stay away from Manchester United’s moneyline due to the lack of value.
On the other hand, the goals market presents an interesting value. Not only the Over 2.00 @1.70 at Pinnacle, but also the Both Teams to Score @2.00 with Bet365. Even though we expect Wayne Rooney to leave his mark on this game, it’s hard to find value on Rooney’s odds to score at any time @3.20 at Bet365.
Since this is a final, there are two markets that deserves our attention. Knowing how Mourinho prepares his teams for this important matches, we can only expect a very aggressive attitude from his players. Therefore, the Over 4.5 cards is definitely an interesting approach.
As we mentioned above, Ajax has a very young team and their lack of experience should also result in some players booked on this game. Adding to this, the referee for this final, Damir Skomina, dolls out one of the highest averages of cards in Europe.
The other market that we want to talk about is “Highest Scoring Half – 2nd Half”. The other way to approach this is to place a bet on the Over line at Half-Time. This is always a very interesting market in finals since the teams tend to take extra risks in the 2nd half.
Our recommendation is to place your bet on this market @2.10 at William Hill and enjoy this great final from your couch.
Best of luck with your bets on this clash between the historic Ajax and the English giant Manchester United.
