In this eSports News update we discuss the upcoming League of Legends midseason update & changes to the rift, and the CS:GO CS_Summit schedule and matchup announcements.
With the small update notes on champions like Maokai, Zac, and Sejuani, it is fair to say that Riot is playing with our thoughts regarding the 2017 Midseason update. Judging by the champions that are getting changes, it seems as though the tank class is the one that will be getting the most out of the update. The gameplay team also updated the community on what to expect on the upcoming Friday.
A much-needed buff will be given to Rift Herald which will enable her to become a monster that the player can control to take down some towers. The ability of the Herald works in the following way:
An item will be dropped by her that you can pick up to add to your inventory slot. The item will allow the holding summoner to get an empowered recall and after a limited time period, the item will disappear.
The Herald will be under your command for the time you have the item in the inventory. The building will burn to ashes as long as she is lost on the map. There will be no change of her stats before and after the Herald is under your control which will be the same as taking her on in the pit.
So, it will be a mountain to climb to beat the Herald if she is controlled by the opposition. You can also use crowd control on her now. Also, in case you haven’t noticed it already, the Rift Herald was described with feminine pronouns!
At the start, we have shed some light on the fact that Maokai, Sejuani, and Zac will be the champions who will surely get most out of the update. No other champions will be getting mini-updates, which is not just a rumor but a official statement released by Riot.
This is the same method under which other classes received the changes in the past. So, let’s figure out what to expect for the three most important champions:
A stacking passive, which in many ways is similar to Braum, will be granted to Sejuani. It will enable her to stun the opposition and also give her an additional ability that enables her resistances and immunity. Definitely great for a champion that has not seen play in recent professional matches.
Maoki’s saplings will get a buff on damage. His ultimate has also been completely reworked into a huge wave-like ability (like Nami’s) that snares the first champion each root hits.
Zac is now much more combo oriented: he receives a buff on his ultimate with more bounces under his disposal.
The schedule and the matchups of the CS_Summit have been revealed for the competition, which will be taking place on Thursday, April 20th.
As the LAN finals of the tournament will be held in a couple of days’ time, the organizers of the competition have officially revealed the entire matchup schedule for the three-day event, which starts with the group stage match-ups for participating teams.
From the 20th to the 23rd of April, eight teams will compete against one another for a share of the guaranteed $150,000 prize pool.
The tournament is all set to deliver a major competition that will surely live up to the expectations of the fans and the teams involved.
The following teams will duke it out in Los Angeles, California, United States.
All matches will be in the best-of-three format. The schedule is approximate as all the match will be played back to back.
