A couple of months ago, it was a shocking news that Cloud9 had chosen FNS as a replacement for Stewie2k. Some credible sources have even revealed that the move was worth around $ 200,000. We don’t have to be eSports experts to see that this was a serious mistake by Cloud9. The news of the arrival of FNS was not taken well by the fans. The community heavily criticized team CEO Jack Etienne for this strange decision.
DreamHack Masters was the first tournament with the FNS’s in-game leadership, where they only managed to reach the quarterfinals in Marseille. Cloud9 lost 2-1 to Gambit and bid farewell to the French tournament. In IEM Sydney, things did not go well for Cloud9, and the North American representative failed to make it to playoffs. These poor results and disputes within the roster led to the removal of FNS from the active squad. The player has been recently moved to the transfer list of Cloud9.
On the other side, the changes in the G2 roster continue. In the light of these changes, NPC and APEX are no longer part of the team. As SHOX’s project is set to be implemented within the organization of G2. Richard “shox” Papillion haven’t had any professional exposure for months now. He is aiming to make his professional comeback with his friends. The players coming with him include Kevin “Ex6TenZ” Droolans and Edouard “SmithZz” Dubourdeaux. Dan “apEX” Madesclaire and Nathan “NBK” Schmitt are all set to depart from the team.
According to the recent rumors, of the two players, NBK will likely replace FNS in in the ECS Season 5. The event will be a tough one for the American side. They are placed in group A alongside Astralis, Fnatic and Team Liquid. This will be the first test for NBK in Cloud9 and it might just prove to be the hardest one. Since the morale of the team is low as they are struggling to find decent results.
Compared to Cloud9 all of these sides have a better year so far, excluding Fnatic. With the addition of NBK, Cloud9 might be a stronger side than Fnatic. However, to get into the playoffs, they should finish in the top 2 ranks. This was a tough job considering the teams like Astralis and Team Liquid. Astralis was undoubtedly the favorites to lift the title. However, Cloud9 did manage to pull out ahead and finished on the second place in the event.
Cloud9 can’t be kicked out from the equation. The side finished second in the first premier title of the year against the odds. Possible future composition of Cloud9:
