Home I eSports I eSports I ESG Mykonos Recap
The first big event for competitive teams of CS:GO in Europe was the ESG, held on the island of Mykonos from September 7 to 10, 2017. A spectacular prize pool of €200,000 was on the line for eight teams. We have all the details on the final!
A total of eight teams participated in the competition. Gambit eSports, SK Gaming, Virtus.Pro, mousesports, Team Liquid, BIG, Heroic, and EnVyUS. All of them had a great showing in Greece.
In the end, mousesports won the crown in a tough final battle against Team Liquid. Along with the trophy they also took home the €100,000 first prize.
The final was played to the best of five maps. The encounter really was very even to the end, as the victories were falling from one side to another. At Cobblestone, mousesports won it 16-8, at Inferno Team Liquid won 16-5. Train dropped in favor of mousesports 16-9, while Mirage finished 16-13 for Team Liquid.
It was clear that the final was going to be resolved on the last map, which happened to be Nuke, one of the most difficult maps to play since changes have made the map quite unbalanced. The score of this last map finished at 16-4 in favor of mousesports and that clinched the tournament.
The best players of the meeting were Tomáš “oskar” Šťastný and Miikka “suNny” Kemppi, who performed quite exceptionally.
Here is the final ranking of the competition as well as the associated rewards:
After the victory, the team has to have their eyes on the Premier League 2017. They will play in group B on the weekend of September 15. They will face big teams like North, Fnatic, and Immortals for a much greater prize this time around: half a million dollars ($500,000) goes to the champions.
This year’s DreamHack Montreal was held from the 8th to the 10th of September and showcased some incredible competitive CS:GO. At the end of the three days of competing, it was finally North who won without losing a single card.
Group stage DreamHack Montreal 2017 was held on the system GSL. As a result of this stage, sides Team Kinguin, Gale Force Esports, Luminosity Gaming, and compLexity Gaming were eliminated from the tournament.
In the semifinals, North defeated Cloud9 and Immortals won against Counter Logic Gaming.
In the final, with only a few minutes to go before the start there was some drama. Only two members of Immortals were in the room. The organization gave the team a small over time, but the situation persisted. This resulted in an automatic loss for Immortals in the first map of the DreamHack Final.
The second map, Cobblestone, was won by North 16-9. This was arguably the easiest BO3 win of the side, which lasted only one match.
To finish, here is the final ranking of the competition and the associated cash prize:
