Team Wings Gaming is a Chinese professional Dota 2 team, champions of The International 2016. The team is best known for their unpredictable, aggressive style of play. The team’s success is due to their incredibly deep champion’s pool, which was demonstrated at Summit 5, an event won by the Chinese Dota 2 machines with over 20 different heroes.

Founded in 2014, Wings is one of the most successful Dota 2 teams. As a current holder of the Aegis, the team is surely a favorite for every future event through 2016. With $9,482,524 total tournament earnings,Chu “shadow“ Zeyuand his teammates are also very successful when it comes to earned money from eSports events.

Currently, Team Wings is only represented in the popular MOBA – Dota 2. Of course, it will be very interesting for all eSports fans if we have the chance to see other gaming disciplines added to the organization.

Team Wings History 

Wings Gaming was a minor team for over a year following their formation in 2014, first becoming known after winning The TI5 Open Chinese Qualifiers. Later, the team was reformed by some of the Speed Gaming members – bLinK, Faith_bian and andy. With this new roster, they managed to finish in fourth place at WCA 2015. However, the team was accused of cheating against the Americans from Leviathan.  After the Manila Major, where they finished in the bottom four, the team stabilized. The second place finish at the Nanyang Championship Season brought some confidence to the players.

The biggest success of the team came in 2016 with the unexpected title from The International 2016.  Wings dominate the upper bracket, losing only two games in the four series they played. The team’s first place finish secured $9,139,002 of the tournament’s $20,770,460 prize pool, currently the largest prize pool in the history of eSports.Fans are looking forward to an exciting year in 2017 with the defending champions.
