Home I All Guides I eSports Guides I eSports Strategy I Dota 2 Strategy – The Art of Juking
In standard Dota 2 games, we all hear about juking (referred to as Juke) from our teammates. Most of the professional players do this act but in regular matchmaking, it is also very helpful for beginners. Let’s take a close look at this DotA 2 strategy.
Juking refers to that particular act which an individual player performs to deceive his opponent through special tricks or by dodging opponent’s spells in a team fight.
There are four primary objectives of juking in the game.
Whenever you are low on health points (sometimes mana points) and the opponent is chasing you, then dodging spells or tricking your enemy, which refers to juking, can save your life in the game.
Whenever you’ve wasted your spell or item combinations on enemy or neutral creeps and the enemy tries to chase you, then you won’t have enough mana points to fight against your opponent. In this scenario, juking can be quite handy as your opponent will take advantage of your low mana points.
There are some items in the game like Heart of Tarrasque and Blink Dagger that get canceled if your hero takes damage from the opponent’s hero. To reactivate the item, juking is the only solution through which you can dodge your opponent’s spells and attacks. In this way, you won’t take any damage for some seconds, and therefore, you can successfully reactivate your item.
When you’re on a hunt for your opponent, and you need to take a shortcut path, then juking is probably the only solution.
For beginners, simple jukes are easy to follow, and they can quickly adopt it in the game.
You can do Standard jukes on every hillside on the map. First of all, you just need to run towards a hill as shown in the picture below. Moreover, you can perform standard jukes around trees on the map. It involves vision sense which is more potent at night time.
First, just make your way towards the nearest tree present on the map as shown in this picture. Now you’ve two choices to juke, either you turn left or right. But remember to stay near the trees as your opponent won’t be able to see you in the night time correctly And that’s it, 70% of the time if you follow these common juke tricks, then your opponent would lose your track, and he/she will withdraw the chase after you.
There was hardly a concept of a Meta (or Metagame) in Season 1, when League of Legends first came into the MOBA scene. No one knew where to start or where to go; the community was running on a rampage. Back in those days the players who love to play Annie used to dominate their opponents by taking Infinity Edge. The European players caught the eyes of the community by their exceptional and surprising Lol games. No one used to care about the jungle part of the map, but it wasn’t the case with the Europeans, who took all the possible advantage they could. Team Fnatic got the most out of it, and they showed it by lifting the first League of Legends World Championship.
From that time, the game continued to establish itself as a mechanical and highly technical game, enriched with endless strategies. When one hears the word “Meta” the very first thing to come to mind is a tactic that enables the players to win games quickly: well it is exactly that! You are most likely to win games when you play the champions or use the strategies that are active in the current Meta.
Team Play and Solo Queue
Team play and Solo queue are the two things of which the League of Legends is composed of. Both of them have their unique Metas of champions and strategies when executed perfectly they are very synonymous with magic. We will give you 3 Combo Synergies of the game that are working well in the current Meta. We will be judging combos by their overall impact and efficiency. So let’s get started.
Sona and Miss Fortune, A.K.A “Bullet Time Crescendo”, is an ancient one and has almost decayed with time, but fortunately it has come in play of the bot lane again because of the recent rework of Miss Fortune’s kit. Since Miss Fortune is not so Mobile, this combo is very rare in competitive play, but the scenario is very different on Solo/Duo Queue. Miss Fortune’s Bullet seems to carry out a large chunk of damage which is somewhat ridiculous, resulting in overkill since the most of the Pub players are not skilled enough to stop the channeling of the ultimate. When this ultimate synergizes with Crescendo, which happens to be Sona’s ultimate, it will result in a sparkling Wombo Combo in the bot lane. Sona is the best possible partner because Miss Fortune is not that mobile and relies on healing and protection for survival.
In both regular and competitive play there was a brief era when the Global Team Meta dominated the game. Twisted Fate and Nocturne were among the usual compositions and had outstanding Alliances with Shen or Karthus. Paranoia, which happens to be Nocturne’s Ultimate has great synergy with the Destiny of Twisted. The major downside of the combo is that, if poor execution of combo takes place, then there is high chance that the other gets an easy “Ace”.
By the sound of it, I admit it is overrated. But there isn’t any doubt that a couple of knock-ups paired with a good Yusao can be very rewarding for the team. You can snowball and win the game if the combo is perfectly executed twice or thrice. Although, being hammered with a handful of nerfs, the recent changes in the Masteries have been very useful for Yasuo.
With all this being said and dealt with, there are hundreds of combos still left to put into discussion, although it is very easy to counter them. To create combos in League of Legends, in-depth knowledge of the mechanics of the game is required. But what helps the most is watching streamers like Faker, Trick2G, or Boxbox and also watching some LCK (South Korea), EU LCS (Europe), LCS (North America) or LPL(China) games. One can enhance his/her game a lot by gaining knowledge of the match by watching the professional players themselves.
General aim and hand-eye coordination should be well taken care of. To excel one should play a lot of death matches, since not many players are capable of taking headshots at the start. Remember to buy armor. Armor is greater than the gun. So if you are running low on cash, remember first to buy armor and then purchase the weapon.
At this point, your aim is probably alright. You should get familiar with the maps you like, remember map design is critical. Layout, timings, the flow. Terrorists, play the one thing you should focus on and study strategies, because as terrorists you have to play offensive and it happens to be the weaker side for most of the players.
Position is crucial and should be the primary focus of the player of this rank. Get in the right position and learn the angles. You should also determine the flow of economy in CS: GO and should be well prepared for Eco rounds.
You are clear of the silver rank and now is the time to put trust in your teammates. Inconsistency tends to be the real problem on this level; sometimes you end up thinking that you should be among the Silvers and other times your plays are like the acts of God.
A major factor in winning is team play; it is the main ingredient to victory once you reach DMG rank and above. However, it is not that crucial in lower levels where is easy to get carried away. For self-improvements, the lower levels (below DMG) are of significant benefits. It seems like people are stuck in this rank forever. Since they are unable to achieve higher ranks no matter what they do. Lack of team play is the crucial attribute of failure.
Sometimes you just can’t do it. There is nothing that one can do because people are sometimes really cruel and foolish. Or just use a mic.
Encouraging your teammates and promoting good behavior can go a long way and can improve the team coordination. Tell them ‘nice try’ if they failed and ‘good job’ when they succeed. Everyone fails sometimes. And one thing you should never do is to get into an argument with your teammates; don’t feed trolls and don’t be a troll. Take your emotions out of it because in the end, it is just a game. When people begin to get emotional or rage, you should avoid getting angry and try to calm them. And if that doesn’t stop them just do your best to ignore such idiots, Mute option is available for such cases. Don’t get in a fight with them, because it will most definitely not improve the performance of the team. Don’t respond to the taunts of the opposition. If you suspect that any of them are playing with cheats, just report him/her and continue playing.
In the end, I will just remind you what I said in the beginning: this post is not the ultimate solution to your problems. I have one final tip for you if the tips mentioned above won’t help you. There is always room for improvement for every player; the player just needs to find that out for themselves. It could be your team play, map knowledge, aim etc.
