Organized by DreamHack and sponsored by Monster Energy, Atlanta will be the place of an incredible professional DotA 2 exhibition. With a guaranteed prize pool of $175,000 on the line, teams will be looking to prove their mettle on the road to The International 2017.
The format of the competition is:
So, keep an eye on the qualifiers to figure out which team makes it to the big stage from Europe and the North American division. Eight EU teams are fighting for three spots and each team will be looking to make big plays happen to have the slightest hope of getting a direct invite to The International 2017.
Also competing for the invite will be the American giants as they have proven themselves time and time again that the NA region can better the Chinese and Koreans on the big stage. We will look at some of the games from Europe for now.
After a disappointing run in the Kiev Major, both sides will be looking to step up their game in the DreamLeague. Recently, Team Secret signed Yazied “YapzOr” Jaradat as a replacement for Johan “pieliedie” Åström. Team Secret has received a direct invited to the Summit 7, which calls for a change in the attitude of the players.
Things are looking good for Team Secret, but will these changes get them back to their winning ways against Team Liquid? Liquid did better than Secret in Kiev but it was still not up to the expectations of the side and the fans. The 9K MMR sensation Amer “Miracle-” Barqawi didn’t perform up to his usual incredible standards and will be looking to lead his team to victory.
The management of Team Liquid is keeping faith in the current roster with no rumors of any changes to the side anytime soon. But, this could change dramatically if the side doesn’t manage to produce some decent results in the upcoming matches.
However if we look at recent stats, Team Liquid would favor facing Team Secret since they have beaten them in the past two meetings. Team Secret has made changes of their own but it might not be enough to stop Liquid from winning a third meeting between the sides.
“Miracle-” will be looking to reign supreme once again on the big stage as the side is currently lacking the spark, which could very well be restored against the surging side of Team Secret. With the look of the things, Team Liquid should be able to take down Team Secret in the best-of-two series.
The name Natus Vincere brings back some golden memories of the early days of DotA 2 when the eSports industry was just coming up to the international stage. It is without any doubt that the early establishment of professional DotA 2 is credited to NaVi and their mid laner Daniel “Dendi” Ishutin, as together they promoted the game professionally for all the right reasons.
But, in recent years the side has not lived up to their full potential and time and time again has failed to live up to their star-studded reputation.
Although some glimpses of miracles have been witnessed on the side, they were much more like a one hit wonder. The squad has seen a lot of changes but one man that remains is Danil “Dendi” Ishutin. One of the changes to the side was the removal of Kuro “KuroKy” Salehi Takhasomi from the lineup, who became the current captain for the opposition, Team Liquid.
The current lineup is full of potential with team captain “Dendi” alongside the offlaner Victor “GeneRaL” Nigrini, who showed some brilliant plays in the recent el-Clasico against Alliance in the EPICENTER 2017 Qualifiers and should continue to exhibit some similar plays against Team Liquid. The new carry, Per Anders Olsson “Pajkatt” Lilleis, is also looking comfortable in the squad. It will be a battle of the minds as two sensational mid laners will be facing off against one another.
The match looks too close to call, the odds are not favoring Natus Vincere in this DreamLeague match. Nevertheless they have the potential to prove the critics wrong and this DreamLeague match could very well be one of the games to do so.
Overall, as this is a best-of-two series, so the result might end up in draw. Bet365 offers odds of 2.10 for tie, while a Natus Vincere victory is offered at odds of 5.50.
