Home I All Guides I DFS Guides I DFS I Premier League Team of the Week: September 24
A good week was enjoyed by our DFS Premier League Team of the Week last time out with Romelu Lukaku, Kelechi Iheanacho, and Nacer Chadli (twice) all getting on the scoresheet and securing our roster some huge points.
Let’s hope for more of the same in Week 6 with a stacked Saturday slate that has eight games to pick from.
So why is it that these eight names have become our DFS Premier League Team of the Week?
The Frenchman is never far from our thoughts when making our draft: his Spurs boast the best defensive record in the country at the moment.
He suffered an injury earlier in the season but is now back to full fitness, and he will fancy keeping a clean sheet as part of a defence that has conceded just two goals in six starts to date.
Saturday’s opponents, Middlesbrough, are a solid enough opposition, although they have only scored two goals in a game once this season, which reflects their lack of firepower in the final third.
For Alderweireld, see Lloris. Here’s a Spurs defender who relishes his role at the heart of the defence, and occasionally he pops up the other end of the pitch and scores too (as he did against Monaco in the Champions League a fortnight ago).
The Belgian averages 6.8FPPG – perfectly respectable for a defender, and he should be part of a clean sheet-keeping Spurs side this weekend at Middlesbrough.
Attacking full back Seamus Coleman opened his goal account for the season last week against Middlesbrough, and the Everton man will be looking to maraud forward once more when his side takes on a fragile Bournemouth on Saturday.
The Cherries have conceded seven goals in two games against the Manchester sides, and with much of Everton’s attacking play starting with Coleman and Leighton Baines in wide positions, he should have plenty of opportunities to pick up points in an attacking sense.
And defensively, well, the Toffees have conceded just three goals so far this term and Bournemouth has failed to score in 40% of their outings, so there is every chance the Irishman will be bagging 3pts for a clean sheet too.
The former Spurs man is enjoying himself immensely at new club West Brom, and with Tony Pulis offering the Belgian a free role in attack, he certainly delivered last week with an outstanding all-round display that delivered two goals against West Ham.
He is averaging a whopping 22.5FPPG, and this week the Baggies travel to take on a Stoke side that is defensively the worst in the land. Chadli should have plenty more chances to shine.
What a performance last time out from the South Korean: his assist for Harry Kane’s goal and energetic attacking display helped the Spurs to a 1-0 win over Sunderland and took his tally to 18.6FPPG for the season.
His tally for the term is now up to two goals, one assist, 2.40 shots per game, 1.60 key passes, and 1.40 fouls earned per 90 minutes, so Son is a player who looks ready to shine on Saturday.
We wrote at length last week in our DFS Premier League Team of the Week column that some strikers have a habit of going on scoring streaks, and that Lukaku is one of them.
The big Belgian did us proud by notching his fourth goal in just two games, and the rationale for drafting him this week remains the same: against a vulnerable Bournemouth backline, he should prosper.
We have drafted the West Brom striker in the past, and his habit of popping up with goals – he bagged his second in four starts last week – shows why.
With Nacer Chadli pulling the strings behind him, Rondon finally has a playmaker alongside him that can create goalscoring opportunities, and the Venezuelan rarely needs asking twice to do just that.
Don’t forget, the Baggies take on a Stoke side that has conceded 14 goals in just five games; as such, Rondon is a must pick.
The pint-sized Brazilian ran the show in Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Chelsea last weekend and assisted the first goal with a sublime cross.
His influence is such that he is now averaging 10.6FPPG.
As part of an ultra-attacking Liverpool outfit he should perform very nicely this week against Hull,
who are just starting to live up to pre-season expectations as the whipping boys of the EPL.
