Home I Featured Articles I Best Picks NFL Week 9
Week 9 began with an unexpected Jets win over the Buffalo Bills. This week is a tough time for fantasy managers with six popular-pick teams on byes – Chicago Bears, Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Chargers, Minnesota Vikings, New England Patriots, and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Our list with the best NFL Week 9 fantasy picks is designed to help you through the challenge of picking the best players from what is left available. Let’s start.

As usual, we start with the quarterback position. Our pick is the veteran Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints. The Saints’ QB is now on top of the best QB barstool debates after Aaron Rodgers’ injury and Tom Brady’s few disappointing losses. This week Drew Brees is playing at home and against a team with a bad pass defense, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Tampa’s defense has allowed 12 passing touchdowns and an average of 280.9 yards per game so far this season. The Saints are a passing team so we can expect a high scoring game in New Orleans. If you feel risky enough, now is your time to bet on 4+ touchdowns for the home team.
The news about QB DeShaun Watson’s season-ending surgery shocked the NFL world and every fan of the Texans in particular. The rookie was having a record debut and showed impressive skills such as brave running, physicality, and deep passing. Despite the tragedy, the team spirit in Houston is high. Will they be able to keep it that way with QB Tom Savage? We are about to see this Sunday.
Our Best NFL Week 9 Pick for the wide receiver position is WR DeAndre Hopkins. The veteran is in top shape and will hopefully continue producing for the team as long as the passes towards him are accurate enough. The new old quarterback Tom Savage still didn’t impress anyone with his performance but we noticed a tendency in his playstyle. Most of his passes are directed into DeAndre Hopkins’ position on the field – 34% to be exact. And this is career-wise statistics.
Seattle Seahawks’ QB Russel Wilson has been on fire recently. He threw for more than 300 yards in the last 4 games and considering the team’s running back issues, the match versus the Washington Redskins is going to be a passing game. Seahawks’ tight end Jimmy Graham is going to be the main target for Wilson, if the team’s intel has done their job of researching. The Redskins are being destroyed by tight ends this season. Now is the time for the 30 year old, 120 kg TE to earn a spot in the NFL’s perfect lineup.
TE Jimmy Graham’s performance started with the Saints in 2014 after he was signed from the free agency. He was traded to Seattle in 2015 but suffered an injury (torn tendon). Healthy and rested for 2016/2017 season, he recorded 923 yards with 65 receptions and 6 touchdowns helping his team reach the Divisional round of the Playoffs.
We would generally go with the Cowboys’ superstar RB Ezekiel Elliott, who once again received a game day permit. But his team is playing one of the toughest games in the program – against the Chiefs. So the first running back who made it to our Best NFL Week 9 Picks is Houston Texan Lamar Miller. He wasn’t seeing many carries this season and was still productive, averaging 93.5 points per game and 4 touchdowns in the last four games. Miller is one of the few Texans who can in a way benefit from QB DeShaun Watson’s season-ending injury. This is one of the smartest fantasy picks for Week 9.
The super successful rookie of the LA Rams – RB Todd Gurley, has been the engine of his offense for the whole season so far. He is entering Week 9 coming from a bye week – rested and hungry for football. Gurley scored 8 touchdowns in 7 games and is now facing the New York Giants’ defense. The Giants are 1-6 so far and their defense has allowed nearly 150 yards per game to rushing attacks. If Gurley receives enough carries, this matchup is going to be a running nightmare for the Giants.
With a record of 7-1 so far the Eagles are one of the top NFL 2017 teams. The reason for this massive success lies not only in the hands of the genius quarterback Carson Wentz, but also in the fearsome Eagles defense. Although not the best in the league, these guys are doing a great job and this week they are playing at home vs Denver. What is more, they are facing a weak quarterback making his first start of the year. And if that is not enough, Broncos’ QB Brock Osweiler is going to stand behind a fragile offensive line.
