Home I Latest News I ATP World Tour Caps 2018 Season
In the last event of the season, the ATP World Tour Finals kicks off on November 11th from the O2 Arena in London, England. The undefeated singles winner of this tournament will be taking home a cool $2.7million USD and 1500 rankings points. With so much on the line, you can bet every player will be giving it their all.
The ATP World Finals pits the top 8 men (singles players and doubles teams) from around the world against each other in a round robin format, with the top 4 finishers advancing to the semi final knockout stage. Of course, then the top two battle it out for the title and that massive purse. Since 2006, the surface of choice has been indoor hard, which will have an impact on ball speed.

Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer have met in the finals 3 times, with Novak taking the title in each match up. Could this year be Federer’s time to shine?
Djokovic leads the standings, followed by Federer and Alexander Zverev. Djokovic has won the title 5 times while Federer is looking for his 7th ATP Worlds trophy. Federer has been 1st or 2nd in this prestigious tournament in 10 of the past 14 years, with his last win coming in 2011.
You may have noticed the absence of the No. 2 player in the world, Rafael Nadal. Unfortunately, he suffered an injury to his abdomen in addition to a recent ankle surgery and decided to pull out from the tournament. Nadal was replaced by John Isner, who is the lone hope for an American to win. Although he is the longshot with odds of 37.270 (Pinnacle), he could pose some problems for the favorites. Isner is 21-13 on hard court and is considered to be one of the best servers in the tournament with over 1,000 aces in the season. To put that into perspective, Novak only has 325 so far. The 33 year old Texan is also 6’10” with an incredible reach. The last time an American took the top spot was Pete Sampras back in 1999, but Isner could surprise some people at his first ATP World Finals appearance.
The event takes place from November 11th to the 18th with an afternoon and an evening session each day. On Sunday, the 11th, we will see Anderson vs Theim, followed by Federer vs Nishikor. Monday you can place your bets on the matches of Zverev vs Cilic as well as Djokovic vs Isner.
The ATP World Tour Finals will be chock-full of exciting action, especially since each round robin loss also deducts 200 ranking points. Although it is possible to proceed to the finals with 2 round robin losses, no player has ever come back to win it all after that.
