The Asian Handicap betting market is not only one of the most interesting in the betting world, but also the one that professional gamblers use the most. This happens for two main reasons: risk reduction and higher payouts. The bookmakers that offer it also tend to have much lower margins than in any other soccer betting market.

The first big difference to the traditional 1×2 market is that on Asian Handicap betting, the Draw disappears, reducing the market to just two options as it happens, for example, on US Sports or Tennis.
Betting on Asian Handicap is similar to NBA’s spread but instead of betting on the points, you bet on the goals difference. However, there is a slight variation on soccer, since it’s not only possible to bet on Round and Half Numbers, but also on Quarter Numbers. All of these have different meanings and for that reason, let’s go through some examples to make it simple.
When betting on Round Number Asian Handicaps, there is the possibility of your bet being void. The most common Round Number is the AH 0, which means the same as Draw No Bet, with the bet being void in case of a draw.
Barcelona vs Bayern Munich
1×2 Odds:
2.50 Barcelona 3.30 Draw 3.00 Bayern Munich
Asian Handicap (AH 0)
Barcelona +0 @1.80
Bayern Munich +0 @2.11
Another very common and popular handicap is the -1 / +1. This one means that there is also a void option if the game ends with a one goal margin victory from the favorite team.
Benfica vs Besiktas
1.77 Benfica 3.50 Draw 5.00 Besiktas
Asian Handicap (AH -1/+1)
Benfica -1 @2.20
Besiktas +1 @1.70
This kind of handicap is a great opportunity to extract more value from a high favorite, with the bet being void if they win by just one goal but giving us a great reward if they win it by 2 or more. On the other side, it’s also a low-risk bet when you believe that the underdog can create some problems. If you think, for example, that they can achieve a draw, playing the +1 gives you an extra safety since the bet is void if your team loses by a one goal margin.
When betting on Half Number Asian Handicap there are only two possible outcomes for your wager – win or lose.
The Handicap -0.5 means the same as betting on a team to win the game, while if you bet on the -1.5 handicap for example, you need your team to win the game by at least two goals. On the other side, the +0.5 handicap covers the same results as the double chance – draw and victory from the other team. Taking a look now to the +1.5 handicap, your bet is won if your team doesn’t lose the game by more than one goal.
This is by far the hardest handicap to understand since it combines two different handicaps on just one line by the bookmakers. This might sound confusing, but it’s definitely a huge help for the gambler, saving him also the time of making two different bets.
The lowest line that you can find is the -0.25, which is a combination of the +0 and -0.5 handicaps. When betting on this line, you lose half your stake if the game ends with a draw, but your bet is fully won if your team wins the game.
Barcelona vs Real Madrid
Barcelona -0.25 is your bet and full time result is 1-1.
You lose half your stake because your -0.25 bet was a split between -0.5 on Barcelona and their +0, which were lost and void, respectively.
The positive quarter number handicap are pretty much the same. You can use them when you believe that the underdog can create an upset but you prefer to take a lower risk in case of a marginal loss.
Besiktas +0.75 is your bet and full time result 2-1.
Half of your stake is void on this situation since your +0.75 is a 50-50 split between Besiktas +0.5, which was lost, and their +1, which was void since they only lost by a one goal margin.
The perfect combination of all these markets can definitely help your gambling career. There is no other market with such low margins as the Asian Handicaps. And this is crucial to be successful in this business.
We couldn’t let you go without leaving you a note about the difference between Moneyline, Double Chance, and Asian Handicap. These bets might mean the same in some cases, but it is very common that you find higher payouts on the Asian Handicaps, which might be the difference between being profitable or not.
