Home I Daily Fantasy Sports I DFS Featured Articles I AFC/NFC Championship 2017
The best week of the year has finally arrived: Championship weekend! The NFL couldn’t have asked for two better AFC/NFC Championship 2017 games this Sunday. In the NFC Championship game, we have an offensive battle where the red hot Green Bay Packers visit the explosive Atlanta Falcons. This game has shootout written all over it. Aaron Rodgers has been on a different level the past 2 months, while Matt Ryan and the Falcons seem to have been rolling all season long. In the AFC Championship game, we have another great matchup. Ben Roethlisberger leads the Pittsburgh Steelers into Foxborough to face the immortal Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. This game promises to be a good one. Whenever Tom Brady and Big Ben are involved you know we will have both teams competing to the very end. With a chance to play in the Super Bowl on the line for all the teams on Sunday, we should be geared up for some great football. I will be breaking down the games and players I like below .
I only have two rules when gambling on football. Rule #1, don’t bet against Aaron Rodgers. If you watched last Sunday you understand why. Aaron Rodgers is something we’ve never seen before. He has mastered the quarterback position unlike any player ever has. I will wait to reveal rule #2. With that said, I think the Atlanta Falcons have a great shot to win on Sunday. Not only are they at home, they have the better defense. Both teams can score at will, that is why the over/under is listed at a whopping 60 points. These two teams met in week 8 and boy was it a good game. The Falcons won the game 33-32. Rodgers put up 4 touchdowns while Matt Ryan put up 3. I think we would all sign up for this type of game on Sunday. This is a tough game to pick, but that’s my job.
I like the Green Bay packers +4.5. I also like the Packers to win the game and advance to the Super Bowl. This should be a good one!
Aaron Rodgers QB ($8,100)
I like Aaron Rodgers, this shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. When these two teams faced in Atlanta in Week 8, Rodgers put up 33.8 fantasy points. I expect him to come close to that this week and lead his team to a big win.
Ty Montgomery RB ($5,600)
Montgomery has been an all purpose back since they moved him there from wide receiver. With Aaron Rodgers as his QB you know he will get Ty the ball in all the right situations. Look for Montgomery to have another big game like he did last Sunday against the Cowboys.
Davante Adams WR ($5,700)
Davante Adams got banged up last week but he should be good to go. With Jordy Nelson most likely missing this game, look for Adams to lead the receiving corps on Sunday. Adams had 19 points last time these two teams faced.
Matt Ryan QB ($7,700)
Matt Ryan has been straight up balling this season. I expect this to continue on Sunday in a game that is most likely going to be a shootout. He threw for 3 touchdowns in Week 8 vs the Packers and I expect much of the same on Sunday.
Julio Jones WR ($8,200)
Julio Jones was shut down in Week 8 when these two teams played, but don’t expect that to happen again. Julio is a big time player and I expect him to show up in the biggest game of his career. While his price is expensive he should visit the end zone at least once.
Devonta Freeman RB ($7,200)
Not many people have been able to stop Freeman this season. I don’t expect the Packers to change that on Sunday since they allowed 125 rushing yards from Ezekiel Elliott last week. Although Freeman will split touches with Coleman, I still like Freeman to have a big game.
What a game we have in the AFC. Two of the best franchises in the NFL with two of the best quarterbacks of all time. What else can you ask for? The Steelers are coming off a tough win on the road vs the Chiefs, while the Patriots are coming off a sloppy blowout vs the Texans. The Patriots really haven’t been challenged yet this season, but in order to win a Super Bowl, they definitely will be. Any team that features Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown is not a team to take lightly. The Patriots should have their hands full on Sunday night, but at the end of the day, Tom Brady is not to be messed with. Earlier I told you I only had two rules when betting on the NFL, Rule #1 was don’t bet against Aaron Rodgers. Rule #2 is even easier, don’t bet against Tom Brady. It’s simple, these guys just don’t lose big games often.
Tom Brady QB ($7,100)
Tom Brady is arguably the best quarterback of all time. A win on Sunday and it might not even be arguable any more. Tom Brady knows that and I expect him to go all out like he always does in crucial games. While I like Rodgers and Ryan’s matchup better, I still love Brady in the big game. Look for him to throw for at least 3 touchdowns.
Julian Edelman WR ($7,300)
Brady’s go-to guy will be ready on Sunday, and Edelman should be the favored target early and often. Coming off his 8 catches, 137 yards, 13 target game last week, expect Edelman to put up similar numbers in a game that will advance them to the Super Bowl.
Dion Lewis RB ($5,300)
Dion Lewis had one of the greatest games from the running back position in postseason history last week. He had a rushing touchdown, a receiving touchdown, and a kick off return for a touchdown. It looks like the Patriots were saving him for the playoffs and he looks fresh. If he can stop himself from fumbling, look for Lewis to have another big game.
Le’Veon Bell RB ($10,300)
Le’Veon simply cannot be stopped. You can try, but you won’t succeed. So far in both playoff games, Bell has rushed for 167 yards, and 170 yards. Not bad right? Look for Bell to get the ball often and try and keep the ball from Brady. Bell is the one lock there is in the NFL.
Antonio Brown WR ($8,800)
The best wide receiver in the league has showed up so far in the playoffs. In his team’s first two playoff games this season, he has put up 124 and 108 receiving yards respectively. Look for Big Ben to be targeting Brown often when he is not handing off the ball to Bell. They sure are a dynamic duo.
Championship weekend is always viewed as the best weekend in all of sports. You basically get two Super Bowls in one day. This year we have arguably the two best matchups you could have asked for. It is shaping up to be quite a game in both conferences. I picked Aaron Rodgers and the Packers to advance to Super Bowl 51 to face Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. What a game that would be. I hope everyone enjoys their weekend and the upcoming AFC/NFC Championship 2017 big games.
